On July 23, 2015, RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov met New Zealand Ambassador to Russia Hamish Cooper to discuss relations between the two countries, prospects of a free trade area covering New Zealand and the Eurasian Economic Union, multilateral cooperation in Asia-Pacific, and the role of New Zealand in strengthening international security in the capacity of the UN Security Council nonpermanent member. The sides also agreed on cooperation between RIAC and the Embassy in advancing bilateral contacts in academic and educational areas.
