Project: Nuclear Weapons and Technologies in Contemporary International Relations

The world stands witness to mounting international tensions and the rapid development and proliferation of nuclear technologies, including technologies for the delivery of nuclear weapons, which makes it only pertinent to revise the understanding of the different national nuclear doctrines, with due consideration of the advances in hypersonic and space technologies, coupled with the degradation of the arms control system.

The objectives of the project are to analyze the dynamics in nuclear doctrines of states whose approach to nuclear weapons is formulated or revised. Another important task is to explore the significance of advanced technologies that have a direct impact on strategic planning. These include artificial intelligence, hypersonic weapons, and the space component of the Strategic Nuclear Forces.

The aim of the project is to study the impact of changes in nuclear doctrines on global and regional balances of power, offering medium-term forecasts of how nuclear weapons and doctrines may evolve.
