On 14 February 2019, a convoy of vehicles carrying Indian security personnel from CRPF on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora in the Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The attack resulted in the deaths of 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel and the attacker. Immediately after 12 days Indian Fighter Planes launched air strikes against militants in Pakistan. Government of India claimed that it killed 350 terrorists while Pakistan denied any causality. It’s the first time warplanes have crossed the de-facto border dividing the disputed territory of Kashmir - claimed by both India and Pakistan - in more than 40 years. India’s foreign secretary called the strikes a "non-military pre-emptive action," saying the strikes targeted a training camp for the Jaish-e-Mohammad group in Balakot, north-east Pakistan. After that on Wednesday 27 February a Pakistani F-16 crossed Line of Control to avenge the Airstrikes which was chased by a closest stand by MIG-21 which engaged it in Dogfight inside Indian Airspace over Rajouri and Poonch in J & K region of India. It lasted for merely a minute when MIG 21 shot a Russian Missile which hit F-16 but before that F-16 had also shot a USA made missile which hit MIG 21 while it was chasing down F-16.The MIG 21 was flown by IAF Wing Comm. Abhinanadn Varthman who ejected safely before or after being hit and parachuted inside Pakistan Territory while PAF Wing Comm. Shahnawaj-Ud-Din also landed safely inside Pakistani Territory. Both air pilots were beaten up by mob realizing both are Indian Air Pilots as Pakistani Military officially ahs said that they have shot down two Indian Jet Fighters. While Abhinandan was saved by PAF The PAF wing comm. later died due to injuries. Abhinandan was taken back to hospital and later released as peace gesture according to Pakistani Government on March 1,2019 and handed over to Indian Officials at Waghah –Atari border. Between February 27 and March one lot of diplomatic efforts were put in place by India.Indian external Affairs minister went to Wuhan in China to meet her Russian and Chinese counter parts.Russian President Vladimir Putin met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu which is perceived to be on request of India and again Sushma Swaraj met Islamic Countries leaders to isolate Pakistan. In mean time U.S. President announced that he has a good new both for India and Pakistan. It is perceived that he would have spoken to Imran Khan to ease down and de-escalate the conflict.
