On September 13, a Russian-British seminar dedicated to the analysis of the changing situation in Afghanistan and Central Asia was held at King’s College (London). The purpose of the seminar was to exchange opinions about the situation in the region, discuss common interests of Russia and the UK in this sector.
On September 13, a Russian-British seminar dedicated to the analysis of the changing situation in Afghanistan and Central Asia was held at King’s College (London). The purpose of the seminar was to exchange opinions about the situation in the region, discuss common interests of Russia and the UK in this sector.
A well-known researcher and journalist Professor Anatol Lieven was the initiator and facilitator of the seminar on the part of the UK. The British colleagues presented fieldwork results in the form of interviews with former high-ranking members of the Taliban movement.
RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev was the co-facilitator of the seminar on Russia’s part. The seminar was held with the participation of already known and young researchers on Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia: Viktor Korgun, Head of the Afghanistan Sector at the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies, Natalya Zamaraeva, Senior Researcher at the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies, Andrey Kazantsev, Director of the IIR Research Center at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yulia Nikitina, Associate Professor of World Politics at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andrey Sushentsov, lecturer at the Department of International Issues Applied Analysis of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the RF Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The results of the seminar are planned to be published in academic periodicals and on the RIAC website.
