Why Amitabh Bachchan Is Called Superstar of Millennium

You live in any corner of the world, your origin may be French, German, British, Russian, Middle Eastern, African, Chinese, New Zealander, Australian, American, Italian, Spanish, Singaporean, Pakistani and his native India, people know name of this Super Star after telling a couple of lines about him if not instantly. And there is fairly good reason behind it. He has represented Hindi Cinema for nearly half a century now across the globe. His father Late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, an eminent Hindi Poet and Professor at Cambridge University and Cambridge of East, Allahabad University is considered one of the finest poets of Hindi's Uttar Chayavaad Yug( Post Renaissance period).His wife Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan herself is one of the finest actress of Hindi and language cinema.His son Abhishek Bachchan an established actor and his daugher-in-law,Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a former Miss World and Super Star of Hindi Cinema. So Amitabh Bachchan, in his 70s, is surrounded by genetic geniuses. In a sleepy town of Ayodhya when there was no cable TV and we were still addicted to Doordarshan(India's only Broadcaster at that time) it was a common practice in a multi caste village,that was ours , to order 3-4 VHS movies along with TV set on rent of 120/- for full night entertainment. And money was collected from entire village who were addicted to Amitabh Bachchan's Movie. In an open playground either a generator was arranged on an additional cost or organizers had to pull electricity from nearby electric polls to play the movies. The first movie which I watched was perhaps "Mard"(He Man) which had our very own Amitabh Bachchan in lead and Amrita Singh as his co-star. Amitabh Bachchan played role of an aggressive avenger who ran an "Ikka"(Tonga) in an undefined British ruled City of India and his father served under British at a lower post. Amrita Singh is daughter of a Senior British Officer who tortures Indians for the sake of pleasure.Amitabh,his pet Tonga Horse and his beloved Dog together fight with Britishers and rude Amrita who later falls in love with this He Man and through Britishers out of rule from that town. All in all Amitabh's angry young man image reflected the anger of downtrodden and marginalized people of 1970s and 1980s India against those who still had a imperial British Mind Set in India whether its Coolie,Dostana,Nasseb,Saat Hindustani,Zanjeer,Namak Haraam,Adalat,Hera Pheri,Ganga Ki Saugandh,Trishul,Muqaddar Ka Sikandar,Kaala Patthar,Suhag,Shaan,Yaarana,Lawaaris,Desh Premee,Sholay,Namak Halaal,Khud-Daar,Shakti,Nastik,Andha Kanoon,Mahaan,Inquilaab or any other movie out of his more than 200 movies. His second inning started in 1990s with 'Shehanshah' but audience rejected his still angry young man characters as lot had changed in Indian Society with advent of liberalization policies and people looking for a rather peaceful,settled life and not like struggling and fighting with system for basic necessities . His third and rather one the most successful stint which still continues with his latest release "Badla' started with a family drama "Baghbaan' in which he played character of a father rejected initially by his wards.But once his creative genius comes out with help of his employer,friend and love of his beautiful and affectionate wife(Played by Hema Malini-his one time Co-Star in many films in 1970s & 80s) and an adopted son(Played by Salman Khan) all falls in place.The movie goes superhit. Now talking about his latest spine chilling crime thriller "Badla" in which he has played character of an about to be retired lawyer( or father of victim unless it is not revealed) may be considered as one of his best played movies in his third stint where he has not moved out of a room and has shown all colors of human emotions. From a trustworthy friend,The suffering of a father who has lost his Son,a sharp investigator who wisely discovers facts, An analyst who connects the dots of a Road Accident-Cum-Murder crime even without visiting Crime Spot,A Lawyer of an always lying businesswomen client and what not. Story starts when an aging Lawyer walks in to apartment of his pretty attractive female client (Played by Taapsee Pannu who has got praises for other movies as well) who is successful businesswomen and is charged with murder of his Boy Friend, As and when she opens the door,she asks to her Lawyer," Aap to Der Se Aane Wale They?"((You were supposed to come late)" which audience hardly notices as it quite often happens that we reach to a designated place either a bit early or late. And here is the entire secret of the 'Lawyer' who has arrived to her apartments . The Lawyer is actually the father of another victim who has come to her apartment in search of truth with all his home work. But as she believes that her 'Lawyer',arranged by her boss has arrived she asks for tea and the conversation starts. The 'Lawyer' says he has only three hours and being payed heavy fee on hourly basis from her boss so what his client needs to do is to speak only truth. Believing that or even after that she forges multiple stories about his boy friend's murder but tells that both of them had also committed an accident in which an young boy had died(or as later she admits drowned live by herself in a lake along with his car) and both of them were sued by a black mailer and they were running here and there to escape from him/her. She tells how the so called blackmailer calls both of them(Taapsee Pannu and her Boy Friend) to a Hotel in England which is situated 200 miles away from London where she lives along with her husband and daughter. Her boy friend gets murdered there while she is made unconscious by committer, as she narrates. Amitabh Bachchan(Lawyer or Father of the Victim who was killed by Business Women) hardly believes on this version as he has already done his home work and insist to tell the truth.He says," Aapki Kahani me Koi Ched hai,Jo mai Dekh Raha Hun"( There is some loop Hole in your Story which he is seeing)". He also reminds her that time is running out and soon she has to be presented before Police as she is already charged with murder of his boyfriend and here she was telling about another murder about an young boy in car accident who is actually drowned live in a lake after accident by business women. Not to remind that Mother of Victim of Road Accident(Amrita Singh-who was praised for playing the character of daughter of British Officer ina 1980s Movie opposite Amitabh Bachchan) and father(Played by a British actor) are searching for his lost son and had already started suspecting the Business Women. Reason for this is that they had invited her boy friend to his house when he was standing alone with Business Women's car and she her self had gone to drown the other car of victim in a lake. Some suspicious things happened when her boy friend was at parents house. Now the 'Lawyer' says that he wants to fill the loop hole he is seeing in business women's story in order to save her from going to jail. He tells a story to her and Taapsee Pannu believes on that and starts telling the truth in order to save herself .She also tells where actually she had drowned the 'Victim of Accident's' Car after lot of hesitation and believing that 'Lawyer' had the capability to save her. This was the final fact which Amitabh Bchchan 'Lawyer' wanted to know from Taapsee Pannu ( Business Women & Commitor of Crime).He then says he will work whole night in her lawn and walks away from her apartment. Then her door bell rings again and she opens the door for another person who says that he is Lawyer she was waiting for and sent by her boss. At this point She realizes that she has fell in a wise web weaved by Amitabh Bachchan in order to know the truth. Soon she receives a call .She takes the call and on other side Amitabh Bchchan asks her to look in the front apartment across the road.As she looks through her window she sees Mother of Victim and Amitabh Bachchan 'Lawyer' standing next to each other. Amitabh Bachchan removes the facemask and face of Father of Victim(British Actor) emerges out.Mother of victim (Amrita Singh) calls police. So the story, though adopted from a Hollywood film, keeps its viewers on edge of seat throughout the movie while they see Amitabh Bachchan in his 70s and Taapsee Pannu almost half of the age of Amitabh Bachchan playing their one of the best roles. From 1960s through 1970s,1980s,1990s,2000th and now 2010th you will see Amitabh Bachchan experimenting various shades of acting as his acting genius is always getting horned ,sharpened and evolving while he has spent nearly half a century in Hindi Cinema. And its not that simple why Amitabh Bachchan is crowned as 'Superstar of Millennium'.
