A Journey which started from Ayodhya in 1996 after completion of a formal Science Degree in to the field of Media and Communication Studies from Lucknow University have kept this author continuously on learning path by being trained by organizations like BBC and Zee News and having an option of a great career in Media Industry. But he selected to train and teach younger lot and make trained Media Professional for future, a Journey which was started after getting a three year long training in Print,Radio,TV and Digital Media in year 2000. In these eighteen years technology have changed, content development have changed and so is style of Media Teaching. Gone are those days when mere by a white board and marker a Professor can make students understand the ins and outs of Media. Audio-Visual presentations, Tutorial,Field Exercises, Training on New Softwares,TV and Radio Studios,Photography Labs,Computer Labs are now integral part of a Media School. I mysel have established two Community Radio Stations and a High End TV Station in my two organizations and acknowledge such need for students of Media. Media and Communication teaching have become a blend of theory, tutorial and practice. I started media teaching from a film school as Electronic News Gathering faculty and trained not only Indian students but a variety of foreign students on finer aspects of field reporting. Soon, on my migration from Delhi to Bangalore,I was asked to set up department of Journalism and Mass Communication at a newly built college in year 2003 and led that department successfully. I not only taught in urban colleges and Universities but also in remote Government Universities in Purvanchal and Awadh region of Uttar Pradesh. My longest stay so far have been with Amity University Uttar Pradesh where I grew up as academician with 25 research papers and seven books to my credit while in Amity but also taught many core areas of Media and Communication Studies.I was asked by Management and Director of School of Communication to built a Community Radio Station and a high end TV Studio which I successfully completed and was awarded a certificate of merit. Author interviewed persons like Sir Mark Tully & Madhukar Upadhyaya who had served with BBC previously,Bhupendra Chaubey-Executive Editor of CNN-IBN,Richa Anirudh of Zindgi Live,Mugdha Chaturvedi, a famous Radio and TV Personality,Ragini Dwivedi-Super Star of Kannada films and many more for this Community Radio Station. While fulfilling my main objective to disburse the knowledge and wisdom of media and communication I came across many cult academicians from across the globe heading prominent posts in Universities and continuously took input for my lectures while teaching Political System, International Relations, Intercultural Communication, Media Research, Media Industry, Media Management, Radio and Television, Digital Media, Communication Research,Marketing Research, Communication Theory, Print Media, Reporting and Editing and many more. Prof Steven Beebe of Texas State University has been a guiding force for the courses I teach. I have communicated to Dr Sarah T Part low Lefevre of Idaho State University in almost 200 pages on facebook and these communication exchanges has enhanced my understanding. Dan Salmon suffered with lethal disease but kept guiding me on Terrorism across the world especially in Pakistan. Dr Maureen Minnelli of City University, New York regularly speaks to me and so is Prof Rodney Carveth of Morgan State University. I am thankful to Prof Alfred Snider who died couple of years ago and had travelled continuously for as long as 50 hours across the world for his lectures. The idea of this book was seeded in September 2018 when I joined School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Institute of Management Studies,Noida and my previous books were displayed in Institute’s Library .The Head Librarian of Institute Pawan Kumar Mishra asked me to write a Text book as there was lack of good text book for students,and thus idea was born. I explored what courses I had taught previously and out of that list selected these thirteen courses I have taught in three Universities. I must not forget to mention my patron in media Madhukar Upadhyaya who started as a humble student of Journalism at IIMC Delhi and became a mile stone through Journalism as a old hand and Editor-in-Chief of BBC Hindi in Delhi and London and also of Bhasha-The Hindi Service of Press Trust of India,a Historian by writing well researched books on British Raj such as “50 Days,50 Years Before”,as an Editor of Lokmat and Aaj Samaj and as a traveler by repeating Mahatma Gandhi’s Dandi Salt March in 1990s and thus becoming only Indian to do so. In this long academic journey my parents have always been my guiding force, my financial source and without whom I would have not achieved global acclaim as interdisciplinary scientist, I must bow my head before them. My wife and my son have adjusted themselves in my routine of working late or arising as early as at 02:30 PM in midnight quite often and all my works including this would have not been possible without my wife Suman and ten year old son Ratnanshu ( Pragun).Thanks to my elder brother Dr Devesh Dwivedi who is research oriented academic with a successful career as technocrat and his wife Suman Dwivedi who have worked with global giants of software sector.
