A classic illustration of cognitive dissonance is expressed in the fable "The Fox and the Grapes" by Aesop (ca. 620–564 BCE). In the story, a fox sees some high-hanging grapes and wishes to eat them. When the fox is unable to think of a way to reach them, he decides that the grapes are probably not worth eating, with the justification the grapes probably are not ripe or that they are sour (hence the common phrase "sour grapes"). The moral that accompanies the story is "Any fool can despise what he cannot get". This example follows a pattern: one desires something, finds it unattainable, and reduces one's dissonance by criticizing it. Jon Elster calls this pattern "adaptive preference formation".[18]

I wrote in 1986 the following to the above.

How does this pertain to our efforts? And why do I state such as a high priority of understanding.

Answer: There are two foxes which travel the same path and achieve the same initial result. One ends up with sour grapes (reducing ones dissonance) the other decides to just keep going always circling back to the tree with the grapes not trying to figure how to get the grapes but how to time the effort. As this fox knows timing has much to do with the outcome of retrieving the grapes due to recognizing in the foxes travels that if he/she times it right and recognizes the situation he/she will be achieve the results of attaining the grapes.

The second fox not reducing his/her dissonance recognized weather patterns and knew there was a probability upon a storm that lighting might strike the tree and the branch holding the grapes would crack off. He/she also knowing this being of low probability kept circling upon the storms, One day the tree branch fell when he/she arrived, not because of the Lightning but because of the wind. So expect help along the way if you are persistent, without having to identify how it will occur.

How does this relate to the Headline of this commentary?

The election in America was decided in October 2015 not because the FBI announcement late in the election or Russian hacking. It was decided when the New Democratic citizens who are Demtarian offered to help the Democratic Party change away from leftist theory and move back to Liberal theory. The powers of leftist in press and demo party in America decided to dismiss the Private Union membership and Demtarians moved away from such hateful and corrupt politics, The 40 somethings and younger who were of all races and religions who were not part of cult mentality of only being a democrat because of leftist propaganda of such spewing of - we hate republicans due to elite leftist telling us we should. You even still see this - on a television show in America this morning as respected Senator Diane Feinstein told all on National TV did you see the 7 White Men who stood behind President Donald Trump. Old guard leftist who received much of there power by dividing races, religions and sexes and economic differences in America refuse to identify that the younger generation of all races and religions is tired of this as they all have friends, family and work associates who are of different In all catagories just mentioned. Feinstein and others are ok with anarchy, violence and destruction of property by the few to raise money for them and to gain power, not because of intellect and faith but to just keep control of their status, convenience and lifestyle. The New Democratic liberal leadership under the radar is Demtarian theory (Democratic Libertarians) they are of all race, religion, sex, financial success, age and regard themselves as intellectual and faithful and are not willing to be part of cult following by current and past democratic leadership.

This is why democrats lost the election, the wind blew off the branch of grapes and Trump picked it up. Demos and press elites, quit the SOUR GRAPES and start using your intellect and faith to design solutions even though you will lose internal power because you know Demtarian theory is the only option. Like most Traditionalist the Old Guard Traditionalist Democrats in power are like those of past kings and queens hangin on until it completely collapses. At least Republicans voted away from their Kings and Queens who have failed and put a new person in place to help lead old guard to the intersection of progress and tradition. Demos should be as wise or the party may lose over 1/3 of its current votership.

Whether Trump fails or succeeds the Demo Party will have to embrace this new wing or they will establish themselves as the New Democratic Party utilizing the Green Party or other.
