The report presents the results of a comprehensive analysis of contemporary Russian- Japanese relations made by a team of Russian Japanologists within a framework of the Russian International Aff airs Council’s research program. Political, trade and economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation and also the approaches to the resolution of “the northern territories’ problem” are among the key issues considered by the authors.
