The FBI documents reprinted in this book appear exactly as they came out of government files (only smaller). Some of them are a little hard to read, but for the sake of authenticity, none has been retouched. All the censoring, the blotches, handwritten notes, signatures and underlining were done by FBI officials before they turned over the files. Most of the files were forced out by suits against the government; a few became public as a result of the investigation by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
