America is slowly waking up, but it had better do so much, much faster!  We are currently facing multiple and immediate threats to our vital national security in perhaps the most dangerous period in our history.  As JVLV predicted weeks ago, Ebola has reached Texas, and Moslem terrorist beheadings have started in Oklahoma.  ISIS is at the gates of Baghdad despite the bombings. Yet a third major threat is Iran obtaining the bomb.

Unfortunately the president remains obdurate that there will be no U.S.  boots on the ground in Iraq, Syria or on our southern borders.     Even at this late date, our commander-in-chief does not recognize Muslim fascism for what it is. Fort Hood and the latest Oklahoma beheading are still passed off as “workplace violence. “

Given the fear that Ebola can conflate with Islamic terrorism, panic is already setting in.  We have an exposed southern border and, despite palliative administrative assurances to the contrary, we predict Ebola will come here. Having lived or lectured in Mexico and Central America, these regions with their poor medical and hygienic systems cannot withstand the threat of Ebola.  Moreover, it can be used as a weapon by the Islamic fascists.  In the forthcoming elections, we must say no to executive orders fostering the interests of one party and vote no on uncontrolled immigration from Central America.  We must bolster security and medical checkpoints at our borders and at international airports.

Iran, thanks to ludicrous U.S. negotiations with the mullahs, is about to get the bomb, much worse than our errors in North Korea.  Sadly, only Israel seems to realize that when they get it hell will applaud.

There is yet another immediate threat, as Hong Kong police warn they will not tolerate occupation of government buildings by students protesting for democracy.  The students have set today as the deadline for the resignation of the government Chief of Hong Kong.  Though our national  interest in Hong Kong are not vital , yet because of our  democratic values and interest in a stable world order, we should immediately engage in pre-emptive diplomacy and quietly mediate between both parties.  Finally, let us not forget the Russo-Ukraine.  Again, our vital national interests are not involved, yet, as with China, the Ukraine crisis must be resolved so that we can form a limited partnership with Russia against ISIS and Ebola

In the 2014 and 2016 elections, we must avoid the follies of the past.  Our key guiding principle for the electorate should be leaders who are able or willing to meet these threats.   We must choose much better leaders of either party, those who are well read, with substantive experience in national security and governance.  .

We need to restore cuts to our military – presently at pre-WWII levels thanks to White House cuts. Our intelligence services, constantly surprised by the actions of our foes, must be seriously upgraded.  Let us reject the audacity and arrogance of some former national leaders who failed to anticipate 9/11 despite clear warnings, who got us involved in the catastrophic invasion of Iraq, or who engaged in cover-up in Benghazi. Neither should we reconfirm those responsible for the appeasement of now nuclear North Korea.  .

Our top leaders should not be trained on the job.  They must have specific qualifications.    Looking ahead at 2016, our choice for Secretary of State is Richard Haas, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, with bi-partisan, experience in three national security bureaucracies, NSC, DOD and the State Department. (For disclosure Jiri is a member of CFR and knows Richard Haas).  Knowledgeable and well read, Haas is an accomplished writer on our threats in all critical world regions.  Senator John McCain, with his terrific grasp of defense issues, is our choice for Secretary of Defense for either party´s government.

Our top elected officials must be people with the vision of Henry Kissinger and the prudence of Brent Scowcroft, who warned against the Iraq catastrophe.  Our long, strategic objective should be inspired by the Kissingerian vision of building a 21st century stable world order, structured around the NATO alliance and  limited partnerships with Russia, China and India.
