Andrey Kolosovsky

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, RIAC member.

Graduated from MGIMO University in 1978 with a major in international journalism. In 2013, Mr. Kolosovsky completed his Executive MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Mr. Kolosovsky started working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union in 1978, where he held various positions primarily related to the activity of the United Nations. In 1990, he was appointed Head of the Department of Politics at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and a Deputy Minister.

In 1992, he was Appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation. In 1992–1993, he worked as Minister Counsellor of the Russian Federation to the United States. In 1997, he served as Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

From early 1997 to mid-2001, Mr. Kolosovsky worked as Vice President and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors at Media-Most.

Since 2002, he had carried out private consulting services in media investment. He is a member of the advisory boards of a number of investment and management companies and has worked with Western institutional and strategic investors. Mr. Kolosovsky has provided consulting services for projects developed by the TVS television channel, the NTV+ network, Sistema Mass-Media and other Russian media corporations.

Since late 2009, he has been the Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Microsoft Russia. He serves as the primary intermediary between Microsoft and senior Russian government officials, being responsible for the legal aspects of the corporation’s activities in Russia. Mr. Kolosovsky also represents Microsoft at various forums.
