Director-General of Russia's MFA.

Graduated from Moscow State Regional University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Volunteer activist of the youth branch of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR). Worked in dailies: Moskovsky Komsomoletz, Vechernya Moskva, Komsomolskaya Pravda, and in foreign media.

Served as assistant to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Vladimir Zhirinovsky, headed the LDPR press service and International Directorate. Member of the State Duma of the fourth, fifth and sixth convocations. At that time, member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and head of the State Duma Committee for the CIS Affairs and Relations with Expatriates, and also the State Duma Committee for Public and Religious Organizations.

Since April 2012, Governor of the Smolensk Region.

Member of the LDPR Higher Council.
