On November 5, 2020, the Valdai Discussion Club hosted an online expert discussion "Elections in the United States: What to Expect for Russia?" The discussion focused on the prospects for significant changes in the U.S. foreign policy as a result of the elections, including a course to contain China, tightening policy towards Russia, and relations with key allies in Europe and Asia.

The discussion participants included: Alan Cafruny, Professor of International Affairs, Faculty of Government at Hamilton College (USA), Andrey Kortunov, Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Robert Legvold, Professor Emeritus at Columbia University and Director of the Euro-Atlantic Security Initiative, and Dmitry Suslov, Deputy Director at the Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies of National Research University Higher School of Economics, RIAC Member.

The discussion was moderated by Ivan Timofeev, Program Director of the Valdai Discussion Club, RIAC Director of Programs.
