Short version

On October 3, 2013 the U.S. Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security hosted the third meeting of RIAC and Atlantic Council Joint Working Group on the problems of transition from mutually assured destruction to mutuallly assured stability in the strategic sphere of relations between Russia and the United States. The meeting was moderated by RIAC President Igor Ivanov and Vice President of Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security, Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs of Obama administration in 2009-2012 Ellen Tauscher. The first two meetings of the Working Group took place in Moscow (March, 2013) and Washington (April, 2013).

On October 3, 2013 the U.S. Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security hosted the third meeting of RIAC and Atlantic Council Joint Working Group on the problems of transition from mutually assured destruction to mutuallly assured stability in the strategic sphere of relations between Russia and the United States.

The meeting was moderated by RIAC President Igor Ivanov and Vice President of Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security, Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs of Obama administration in 2009-2012 Ellen Tauscher.

The first two meetings of the Working Group took place in Moscow (March, 2013) and Washington (April, 2013).

Apart from Igor Ivanov, the Russian International Affairs Council was represented by RIAC member, Director of the RAS Institute of US and Canadian Studies Sergey Rogov and RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov. The meeting summed up the preliminary results of drafting joint documents and outlined the immediate tasks of the project. The next meeting of the Working Group is scheduled for spring 2014 in Moscow.
