Roundtable on Russia-Pacific Alliance Relationship

On September 30, 2014, the Russian International Affairs Council and the Mexican Embassy in Moscow held a roundtable "Russia and Pacific Alliance: Opportunities for Expanded Cooperation" which focused on the structure and goals of the Alliance, as well as on the integration processes.
The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov; Latin American ambassadors in Moscow, among them Ruben Beltran of Mexico, Gustavo Otero of Peru, Jaime Giron of Colombia and Juan Eduardo Eguiguren of Chile; Director of RAS Institute for Latin American Studies Vladimir Davydov; Valery Morozov, Russian ambassador in Mexico in 2005-2012; representatives of Ministry for Economic Development and Federal Migration Service; former Russian ambassadors and foreign service officers in the Pacific Alliance countries; members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Latin American business councils; as well as executives of major corporations including Rosneft and LUKOIL.
Having stressed that the Pacific Alliance is a young organization, the participants agreed that the unique amalgamation with no common border has already taken the center stage and Russia is definitely working to advance bilateral cooperation with the alliance members.
A special session was devoted to Russia-Mexico dialogue to markedly contribute to the report "Russian-Mexican Relations: Traditional Basics and Imperatives for Renovation" prepared jointly by RIAC and RAS Institute for Latin American Studies.
