RIAC Programs Presented at the First Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit

Education and science make a key issue of Russia’s chairmanship in the APEC, at the same time being a major component in relations with other international organizations. Possessing quite a number of competitive advantages in the field, Moscow is able to offer new opportunities to its foreign partners.
Early this week, the context has highlighted the First Russia-ASEAN Youth Summit organized basically by the MGIMO-University Russia-ASEAN Center and held at its premises.
The Summit participants were addressed by prominent Russian and foreign diplomats and businesspersons, among them MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov, Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov, Singapore Ambassador to Russia Lim Kheng Hua, Executive Director of the Business Council Russia-ASEAN Victor Tarusin, and APEC Business Advisory Council Chairman Fauziah Dato Talib.
At the forum, RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev presented our educational and analytical projects with focus on Asia Pacific, demonstrated interactive capabilities of the RIAC portal, and narrated about internships, summer and winter schools.
“Russia is becoming an attractive labor market for Asia Pacific graduates of Russian universities, as more Russian firms are going international and Asia Pacific markets are rising. Such companies need young workers that combine Russian education and knowledge of the regional specifics,” said Ivan Timofeev.
RIAC’s participation in the Summit is a result of its cooperation with MGIMO-University, a RIAC corporate member whose rector Academician Torkunov is on RIAC Board of Trustees and scholars are active in research programs.
