On May 25-28, Shanghai hosted the 8th Shanghai Forum held by Fudan University with support of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. The Forum offers China’s largest platform for discussion of socio-economic, financial, infrastructural and legal issues pertaining to Asia. The event is attended by renowned international experts, leading politicians, business leaders, journalists and civil society representatives from Asia, Europe, America and other regions.

On May 25-28, Shanghai hosted the 8th Shanghai Forum held by Fudan University with support of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. The Forum offers China’s largest platform for discussion of socio-economic, financial, infrastructural and legal issues pertaining to Asia. The event is attended by renowned international experts, leading politicians, business leaders, journalists and civil society representatives from Asia, Europe, America and other regions.
Co-sponsored by research universities from the U.S.A., Japan, China, Singapore and Great Britain, as well as by the U.S. and German charities, global corporations and think tanks, the Shanghai Forum works under the general theme “Economic Globalization and Choice of Asia”, while the 2013 subject was “Asia’s Wisdom: Seeking Harmonious Development in Diversity”.
RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov took part in the event and spoke at roundtables “Foreign Policy Orientation of the New Leadership” and “Roles and Challenges for Think Tanks in Today’s World”. Dr. Kortunov also held consultations with governors of Fudan University and Korea Foundation on RIAC’s further interaction with the Forum. Among participants also were Special Presidential Envoy to SCO Kirill Barsky, and Oleg Sokolov and Pavel Shabalov, officials of Russian General Consulate in Shanghai.
