RIAC at International Conference “The Open Arctic”

During the November 18-22, 2014, festival “The Arctic Days in Moscow”, international academic conference “The Open Arctic” was held with the participation of representatives of the Russian Arctic-related ministries and agencies, academic and business communities, as well as experts from Russia and other circumpolar countries. The Russian International Affairs Council took part in the roundtable “The Arctic: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” moderated by Academician Vladimir Kotlyakov, Director of RAS Institute of Geography.

During the November 18-22, 2014, festival “The Arctic Days in Moscow”, international academic conference “The Open Arctic” was held with the participation of representatives of the Russian Arctic-related ministries and agencies, academic and business communities, as well as experts from Russia and other circumpolar countries.
The Russian International Affairs Council took part in the roundtable “The Arctic: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” moderated by Academician Vladimir Kotlyakov, Director of RAS Institute of Geography.
RIAC Program Manager Lyudmila Filippova made a report on development of international cooperation in the Arctic region, stressing RIAC’s interest in these issues and its achievements in this field, including the international conference on December 2-3, 2013, Summer School held by RIAC and Northern (Arctic) Federal University on July 11-17, 2012, anthology “The Arctic Region: Problems of International Cooperation” (full text, russian), as well as working papers and reports. Next December, RIAC plans to issue an annual report “The Russian Arctic Potential for International Cooperation”, its draft presented in RIAC on November 13, 2014.
