On November 8, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) held an expert discussion on inter-Korean relations and the situation in Northeast Asia. Delegation from the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA) took part in the roundtable.

Gleb Ivashentsov, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, RIAC Vice-President, welcomed the participants of the discussion. Mr. Noh Hoon, KIDA President, head of the delegation, made opening remarks on the Korean side.

In the course of discussion, Russian and Korean experts discussed prospects for inter-Korean normalization and denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula, relations between the DPRK and the United States, as well as Russia's role in resolving the situation and ensuring security in the region.

Russian side was represented by Oleg Paramonov, MGIMO Senior Research Fellow at East Asia and SCO Studies Center; Yuriy Kulintsev, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies (IFES) Russian Academy of Sciences; and Roman Lobov, research fellow of the Centre for Asia and Pacific Region at Russian Institute for Strategic Studies. Korean delegation also included Yu Young Chul, Director of KIDA Center for Security and Strategy; Kim Jaehong, Senior Research Fellow at KIDA Center for Security and Strategy; Kim Dooseung, Research Fellow at KIDA Center for Security and Strategy; Park Sang Hyun, KIDA Associate Research Fellow; and Noh In Kyu, KIDA Associate Research Fellow. Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and RIAC staff also took part in the meeting.
