Andrey Kortunov Meets Finnish Parliamentarians

On January 20, 2014 RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov visited the Embassy of Finland in Moscow to speak to the Grand Committee of the Finnish Parliament members, among them its Chairman Miapetra Kumpula-Natri, Deputy Chairman Paula Lehtomaki, and Committee member Anne Louhelainen, as well as Committee Counselor Peter Saramo and Finnish Embassy representatives. The participants also discussed the preparation and expected results of the Russia-EU Summit in late January, possible tangible agreements on key aspects of bilateral relations this year, as well as the role of Finland in advancing interaction between the two sides.

On January 20, 2014 RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov visited the Embassy of Finland in Moscow to speak to the Grand Committee of the Finnish Parliament members, among them its Chairman Miapetra Kumpula-Natri, Deputy Chairman Paula Lehtomaki, and Committee member Anne Louhelainen, as well as Committee Counselor Peter Saramo and Finnish Embassy representatives.
The Grand Committee is chiefly the most influential body of the Parliament that plays a central role in determining Finland’s policies within the European Union. In his address, Dr. Kortunov touched upon the current issues and immediate prospects for Russia-EU relations with the special focus on Ukrainian political crisis, and informed the participants about RIAC Europe-oriented activities, in particular, about the preliminary results of the multilateral project on defining ways for building Greater Europe.
The participants also discussed the preparation and expected results of the Russia-EU Summit in late January, possible tangible agreements on key aspects of bilateral relations this year, as well as the role of Finland in advancing interaction between the two sides.
