Malaysia International Youth Exchange 2014

Hello Malaysia!

May 22, 2014

First day is a bit confusing as there is so much going on and everything is so new that your brain is just doesn't operate the right way. In the evening the first meeting with all the participants of the event and a shirt briefing took part. And now, when already here, we have realized that this program we are about to participate in is truly amazing. It is called "Malaysia International Youth Exchange 2014" (or just MIYE 2014) with about 15 participating countries with a delegation of young people. Those countries are almost all asian (ASEAN mostly) with a little far guests from Japan, Somalia and Russia. This program includes cultural exchange with cultural performances and presentations from participating countries, also different workshops and briefings, all aimed on the youth exchange. We even begin with some ice-breaking sessions. But they are mostly not needed as everybody already got to know each other and to take like a million pictures.

And this is one important thing that should be mentioned and stressed: its how all the people here are extremely friendly, open and warm. Everyone smiles and literally wants to talk to everyone. International Youth Center (IYC), our home for the program, is like a big friendly house of friends. And we, Russians, turned out to be really interesting for the people here. Even the director of the IYC at the first briefing mentioned how happy they are we came here. And yes, as mostly participants are from South Asia we have received those classical questions about all the snow and cold winters (they have never seen a snow by the way). But we like it here now, with an extremely hot air and burning sun that can easily change in the tropical shower. We feel really excited and hope to have a really good time in the MIYA 2014.
