JVLV: DONALD, TONIGHT YOU MUST ADDRESS ANTISEMITIC WAVES IN AMERICA!

     Unafraid, Bi-partisan, Uphold U.S. and Freedom

Donald, we have been your supporters since July 4, 2015. We have defended you on many venues where we publish, e.g. the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member wall, RIAC Moscow, national journals and the social media. We have also tried to counsel you when you crossed the line, such as your attack on Senator John McCain, our national hero.

 You must do more tonight than just point out that Ivanka’s husband, your son-in-law is an Orthodox Jew. Even denouncing antisemitic attacks on Jewish centers and cemeteries is not enough.This is a bigger issue than you may think.

Third and second generation Jews in this country still bear the emotional scars of ancestors who suffered the loss of loved ones and persecution. Also affected are the forgotten mixed race people like this writer.  Jews have also suffered not just during the holocaust. Stalin unleashed his own fury on the them in former communist countries. . 

Already as a child growing up in Czechoslovakia, I was aware that my once democratic country, was undergoing a huge wave of antisemitism. My mother, a child of the holocaust, was born Jewish and and antisemitism affected the life and livelihoods of all my Jewish relatives as well as some of their non-Jewish spouses. I was born out of wedlock because of the Nazi racial laws. I recall the desecration of the graves, both by Nazis and communists, in the Jewish cemetery where my maternal relatives were buried. When Leni Friedman Valenta, my Brooklyn-born Jewish wife,  and I visited the archives in Ukraine (Odessa) and looked for any of her ancestors, it was clear none of them had survived.

Is the new wave of antisemitism  the symptom of a time of great upheaval and division?  Are the Jews going to be blamed again for our country’s failures as they were by both the Nazis and the communists? Are the political divisions and turmoil in this country translating into what Eli Wiesel, defined as an irrational, spiritual sickness? Can you lead us to check it before the madness goes any further?  

What will you do as the President of the world's indispensible power and leader of the democratic West?  Can you assure your audience that America will never treat Israel, our only democratic ally in the Middle East, as Barack Obama did?  Will you promise you will not allow the mullahs of Iran to do what is written on their missiles -- kill the Jews in Israel?  Will you bring a survivor of the holocaust to the stage with you tonight, who can help you explain why we must fight this sickness?
