On June 28, 2019, a Joint meeting of the Russian Pugwash Committee and the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan was held in the Main (new) building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Pugwash Committee, doctor of physics and mathematics Alexander Samuilovich Ginzburg.

The delegation of Kazakh Pugwash was headed by the Chairman of the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan, doctor of physical and mathematical Sciences Vladimir S. Shkolnik.

During the meeting, members of the national Pugwash committees of Russia and Kazakhstan exchanged views and presented reports and presentations on a wide range of issues on international security, disarmament, arms control, non-proliferation, development of nuclear energy, new security threats in the context of the development of new technologies, strengthening international and interregional scientific cooperation.

The participants discussed the history and activities of the Pugwash movement of scientists.

Special attention was paid to the establishment of cooperation and joint initiatives of the Russian Pugwash Committee and the Pugwash Committee of Kazakhstan.
