On April 5–6, 2019, St. Petersburg State University hosted VII International Canadian Studies Conference: “Canada and Russia: The Arctic Giants”.
The conference was attended by Russian and Canadian experts on Russia-Canada relations, experts on the development of the Arctic, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Canada. Natalia Vyakhireva, RIAC Program Manager, made a speech on “Russian and Canadian Approaches to Non-Regional Actors in the Arctic”, and also moderated a session “The Arctic Policy of Russia and Canada”.
The conference focused on various aspects of the Arctic region development, the possibility of interaction and exchange of experience between Russia and Canada, common and diverging interests of the two countries.
