On October 29–31, 2019, Peking University hosted the sixth meeting of the “North Pavilion Dialogue”, an annual high-level international seminar focusing on topical issues of international relations and security.

The meeting gathered former foreign ministers and other high-ranking officials, including Nabil Fahmy, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt; Yoriko Kawaguchi, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan; Kim Sung-hwan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea; Shivshankar Menon, former National Security Adviser of India under Prime Minister of India; John Negroponte, former US Deputy Secretary of State; Joseph Nye, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs; Marty Natalegawa, former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia; David Miliband, former Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom; as well as leading Chinese and foreign experts on international affairs.

The theme of the “North Pavilion Dialogue” 2019 is defined as “Disintegration in a Globalizing World.” Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, traditionally represented Russia at the event, he made a report on the topic: “Is the world moving towards fragmentation and turbulence, and if so, why?”
