Short version

On September 12, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), hosted a Seminar on Academic Writing within Global Science Programme.

Global Science Programme has been implemented since 2012 in RIAC for Russian scientists of the humanities and is aimed at developing English language academic writing skills.

Natalie Reid, lecturer at the University of California (USA), member of National Writers Union, author of several articles on academic writing, editor of professional papers, academic books and anthologies, designer of customized writing training and journal analysis courses, was the speaker at the seminar.

On September 12, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), hosted a Seminar on Academic Writing within Global Science Programme.

Global Science Programme has been implemented since 2012 in RIAC for Russian scientists of the humanities and is aimed at developing English language academic writing skills.

Natalie Reid, lecturer at the University of California (USA), member of National Writers Union, author of several articles on academic writing, editor of professional papers, academic books and anthologies, designer of customized writing training and journal analysis courses, was the speaker at the seminar.

During the event, Natalie Reed detailed the basic rules for preparation of scientific publications in academic journals in English, the structure of publications, the main mistakes in publication preparation and writing. Particular attention was paid to such issues as construction of argumentation system in scientific publication, formulation and description of the research task, selection of methodology, study of works on the issues of the scientific research, and the analysis of scientific journals.

The seminar was organized for RIAC interns, as well as for students, post-graduate students, and university professors — corporate members of the Russian Council.
