On December 3, 2018, Roderich Kiesewetter, CDU/CSU parliamentary group coordinator in a crossparty German Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs, speaker for CDU/CSU parliamentary group on cooperation with Russia; Julian Ostendorf, staff member of the Bundestag Committee; and Stefan Kordash, Deputy Policy Department of the German Embassy in Russia, visited Russian International Affairs Council.

In the course of the meeting with German diplomats the following issues were discussed: current problems in relations between Russia and the European Union, ways to resolve the Syrian and Ukrainian crises, and the possibility of "selective cooperation" between Russia and the European Union in areas of mutual interest. The possible consequences of the ongoing changes in the alignment of political forces in Germany were also touched upon in the context of future interaction between Russia and Germany.
