On December 7, 2016 Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia at the DGAP, the SAIS Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University and the Robert Bosch Stiftung held a seminar «Russia and the West-Building a new Modus Vivendi?». The seminar agenda covered the following issues: security relations; economic and energy relations; the challenge of Eastern Europe for Russian-Western relations; new agenda for Western relations with Russia.

On December 7, 2016 Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Center for Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia at the DGAP, the SAIS Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University and the Robert Bosch Stiftung held a seminar «Russia and the West - Building a new Modus Vivendi?».

The seminar agenda covered the following issues: security relations; economic and energy relations; the challenge of Eastern Europe for Russian-Western relations; new agenda for Western relations with Russia.

The seminar was attended by experts from Russia, the US and the EU as well as by RIAC members and representatives of diplomatic missions in Russia.

The participants included: European Union Ambassador to the Russian FederationVygaudas Ušackas; Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the United States to Russia Lynne M. Tracy; Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) Daniel Hamilton; Head of the Program on Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia at German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) Stefan Meister; Director of the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) Slawomir Debski; Academic Director of the Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences, RIAC member Sergey Rogov; Head of the Center for Situation Analysis of Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations Directorate, RIAC member Vladimir Baranovsky; Advisor to Chairman of the Management Board at OJSC NOVATEK Vladimir Nazarov; Head of Department for Arms Control and Conflict Resolution at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RIAC member Andrey Zagorski; Head of the Department of European Law at MGIMO-University Mark Entin; Deputy Director and Senior Fellow of Russia and Eurasia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies Jeffrey Mankoff; Head of Department of Central and Eastern Europe studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences Lyubov Shishelina.

The meeting was opened by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov and Christian Hänel, Head of the Department of International Relations, America and Asia at Robert Bosch Foundation.
