On June 27, 2017, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) hosted a meeting with representatives of the National Institute of International Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). Prof. Ye Hailin, Editorial Chief of South Asia Studies, Director of Center for South Asia Studies of CASS, and Prof. Gao Cheng, Executive Chief Editor of Journal of Contemporary Asia-Pacific Studies took part in the event from the Chinese side.

Timur Makhmutov, Deputy Director of Programs, Liudmila Filippova, Program Manager for the Arctic and Asia Pacific, and Ksenia Kuzmina, RIAC Program Assistant, represented RIAC at the meeting.

Participants of the meeting discussed opportunities for cooperation between Russian and Chinese think tanks.

On June 25, 2016, in the framework of the official visit of Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, to China, RIAC and CASS signed Memorandum on Cooperation between the two institutions in the presence of leaders of Russia and China.
