On June 27, 2019, RIAC hosted a meeting for the representatives of Russian International Affairs Council and the Iranian Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) to discuss the current state of Russian-European and Iranian-European relations.

On June 27, 2019, RIAC hosted a meeting for the representatives of Russian International Affairs Council and the Iranian Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) to discuss the current state of Russian-European and Iranian-European relations.

The sides focused on the issue of security architecture in Europe and the Middle East, analyzed the approaches of Russia, Iran, and the EU on the Syrian settlement, assessed the position of the EU on the US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

The Iranian side at the event was represented by Ambassador Ali Akbar Jokar, Senior Research Fellow of the Iranian Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), and the staff of the Iranian Embassy in Russia. Russia’s position was presented by RIAC staff Natalia Vyakhireva, Program Manager, and Ruslan Mamedov, Program Coordinator.
