On June 23, 2021, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) held a webinar “Post-Covid Global and Regional Trends and Russia–India Relations.”

The event brought together both distinguished experts of the field and diplomats from the two countries. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Arvind Gupta, VIF Director, delivered opening remarks. The opening session was also honored by the presence of Nikolay Kudashev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to India, and DB Venkatesh Varma, his Indian counterpart, who shared Moscow and New Delhi’s perspectives on the current global, regional and bilateral trends. The event was structured into three sessions, dedicated to these respective levels.

Kanwal Sibal, Former Indian Foreign Secretary and Ambassador to Turkey, Egypt, France and Russia, and Victoria Panova, Vice Rector for International Relations at the Far Eastern Federal University, Managing Director of the National Committee of BRICS Research and RIAC Member, spoke during the first session “Post-Covid-19 Global and Regional Trends.”

Anil Wadhwa, Former Secretary (East) of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and former Ambassador to Italy, Poland, Thailand, and Oman, and Andrey Volodin, Head of the Group of Regional Political Problems of the East and South at the Center for Development and Modernization Studies, Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of RAS, touched upon the developments in the Indo-Pacific.

The last session “Trends in Russia–India Relations” hosted P.S. Raghavan, Former Chairman of the National Security Advisory Board of India and former Ambassador to Russia, and Gleb Ivashentsov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation and RIAC Vice President.

Ksenia Kuzmina, RIAC Program Manager, moderated the discussion.
