On January 9, 2014 a trilateral meeting of experts from Russia, USA and China devoted to the issues of nuclear non-proliferation and security in the Asia-Pacific region and North-East Asia took place in Washington, DC. The meeting was organized by the Nuclear Threat Initiative. During the discussion, participants touched upon the following topics: the threat of nuclear terrorism, threats from the new nuclear states and means of countering them, the likelihood of regional nuclear conflicts and their prevention. A special emphasis was put on reaching a consensus and discussing the parameters of the trilateral cooperation in these fields. RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov together with Program Manager Natalia Evtikhevich participated in the round table on behalf of the Russian Council.
