On December 16, 2018, at the 18th Doha Forum, Valdai Discussion Club held a session focusing on «Russia's Evolving Global Role».

The speakers included Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General; Vitaly Naumkin, RIAC Member, Academic Director of RAS Institute for Oriental Studies; Fahad Al-Attiyah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation; and Paul Saunders, Executive Director of the U.S. Center for the National Interest.
