On March 12, 2021, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation held an online expert discussion to assess the state and prospects for fostering the relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation.

Spanish Foreign Ministry officials attended the meeting, featuring Cristina Gallach, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and for Ibero-America and the Caribbean at the Spanish government, as well as Spanish international affairs experts.

Speakers on the Russian side included: Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General; Andrey Makarychev, University of Tartu (Estonia), Institute of Government and Politics, Faculty Member; and Tatyana Vorozheykina, Levada Center staff member. The discussion was moderated by Carmen Claudin, Senior Research Fellow Associate at Barcelona Centre for International Affairs.
