On June 26, 2014, Russian International Affairs Council held a roundtable "Cooperation of Russia and the Republic of Korea on Regional Security" with the participation of Russian Asia-Pacific experts, among them Alexander Panov, Gleb Ivashentsov and Valery Sukhinin, all of them former ambassadors in these countries. The South Korean side was represented by the pundits from the Korea Institute of Defense Analyses.

The participants focused on key aspects of Russia-Korea security cooperation and military-technical partnership, with most of the time given to China's military rise, Korean settlement and escalation-related threats, U.S. role in the region and its impact on Russia-Korea cooperation. Experts also touched upon future military-technical cooperation, its main problems and possible solutions.

In conclusion, the analysts expressed readiness to continue Russia-Korea security dialogue and expand the strategically-orientated bilateral partnership, stressing that efficient advancement of the agenda requires not only top and high level cooperation but also large-scale interplay on the expert one.
