On April 11, 2024, the second International scientific and practical conference “Russian-Iranian Cooperation in Changing World” took place. It was organized by the Institute of CIS Countries, the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Russian state corporation Rosatom and JSC Russian Railways.

The welcome remarks were delivered by Konstantin Zatulin, Director of the Institute of CIS Countries and First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots; Kazem Jalali, Iranian Ambassador to Russia; Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Academic Director; Vitaly Naumkin, Academic Supervisor of the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies and RIAC Vice-President; among others.

During the conference, the participants discussed a broad range of issues pertaining to Russian-Iranian engagement in Eurasia, with focus on integration efforts in the region and their impact on Moscow-Tehran ties. The experts also discussed military and political aspects of Russian-Iranian cooperation in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

The conference brought together Evgeny Kozhokin, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science and Foreign Regional Studies at the Russian State University for the Humanities and RIAC Member; Boris Dolgov, Leading Researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; Vladimir Belov, Professor at the Department of Oriental and African Studies of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University; Vladimir Evseev, Head of the Department of Eurasian Integration and SCO Development, the Institute of CIS Countries; Elena Dunaeva, Senior Researcher at the Center for Middle East Studies, the RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; Victor Nadein-Raevskiy, Senior Researcher at the Group of Institutional Problems of International Relations, IMEMO RAS; among others.

The conference was also attended by RIAC Program Coordinator Ivan Bocharov.
