Suh Choo Suk, Vice Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea, delivered a speech that was followed by an expert discussion on the regional security and prospects for the two state’s cooperation.

Suh Choo Suk, Vice Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Korea, delivered a speech that was followed by an expert discussion on the regional security and prospects for the two state’s cooperation.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov. Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, RIAC Vice President Gleb Ivashentsov, Head of Asian and African Studies Department at MGIMO University Dmitry Streltsov, Advisor to the CSR Chairman Anton Tsvetov along with representatives from RIAC, Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Korea’s Embassy to Russia took part in the discussion.
Mr. Suh drew the audience’s attention to the prominent political dialogue and intensified trade and economic cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea, as well as the unprecedented development of the humanitarian ties through the introduction of visa-free regime between the countries. Russian and Korean experts highly valued the development of inter-Korean dialogue and discussed the present situation on the peninsula, stakeholders’ stances and long-term perspectives of stabilization and denuclearization of the region.
The participants agreed that to decrease inter-Korean tensions we need a multi-party platform that would include Russia.
