On February 18-20, 2014 Doha, Qatar, hosted the First Arab States Regional South-South Development EXPO, a major international forum sponsored by the UN Development Program and the government of Qatar, where over 700 representatives of government institutions, businesses, think tanks and international organizations participated.
The agenda covered the role of technology exchanges for development, food security, the role of business in sustainable development, ecology, industrial growth, state institutions reforms, political development and many other issues.
Due to the event's diverse profile, including conferences, exhibitions and interactive seminars, the guests were able to present their projects, find new partners, and learn about the progress made in implementation of various projects and programs.
RIAC was represented by Program Director Ivan Timofeev.
"Such events do indicate that international relations are continuously acquiring new dimensions. While such components as national interest and active role of the state remain, the tools of world politics are changing rapidly, and so are the actors, their number and quality. It appears counterproductive to neglect these realities, as active involvement seems to be the right thing to do. And it is the development policy that offers a powerful argument in favor of this approach" – he said.
