On March 31, 2014 RIAC members and experts met Vygaudas Usackas, Head of EU Delegation to Russia. The RIAC group included Vladislav Inozemtsev, Scientific Director of the Center for Post-Industrial Studies and Federal Political Council member of the Civil Force party; RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov; Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs and Chairman of Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy Fyodor Lukyanov; President of the All-Russian Insurers Association and Member of the Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Igor Yurgens; Assistance Professor at Political Theory Department of the MGIMO University Kirill Koktysh; Yaroslav Lissovolik, Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank Russia, Chief Economist, and Head of Research Department; and Eugeny Gavrilenkov, Managing Director and Chief Economist at Sberbank CIB investment company, Professor at Higher School of Economics. The EU Delegation was represented by its staff members.

The discussion focused on current trends in the development of Russian society, economy and foreign policy; short-, medium- and long-term international consequences of the Ukraine crisis and their impact on relations between Russia and the European Union; trust in the Russia-EU relationship and its prospects in the context of Russia’s modernization goals; possible shifts in the political, economic, energy, humanitarian and other areas of Russia-EU cooperation. Bearing in mind the fast-changing context of the bilateral dialogue, the participants agreed to continue the discussion soon.
