A delegation of the Arab and International Relations Council was in Moscow on September 17 at the invitation of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). The delegation was headed by Mohammad Jassem Al-Saqer, the Council Chairman, the former Chairman of the Arab Parliament and a member of the National Board of Kuwait, and included Ayad Hashim Allawi, the former Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Issa, the former Morocco Foreign Minister, Fuad Al-Siniora, the former Lebanese Prime Minister, Taher Al-Masri, the former Jordanian Prime Minister.

The delegation was received by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

During the meeting, in which the Russian side was represented by Academician E.M. Primakov, Chairman of RIAC Board of Trustees, I.S. Ivanov, A.V. Kortunov, A.S. Dzasokhov, V.V. Naumkin, A.M. Vasiliev, P.V. Stegny, A.V. Vdovin, V.V. Popov, the sides exchanged comprehensive views on the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Special attention was given to the efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation, and political settlement of existing problems.

The discussions were held in an open and friendly atmosphere. It was agreed to maintain regular contacts between the Russian International Affairs Council and the Arab and International Relations Council.
