On September 13 RIAC hosted a closed meeting with Colonel Ahmed Al Mismari, a spokesman for the Libyan National Army.

The meeting focused on security challenges in Libya and countering terrorism. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, made an opening speech.

Ahmed Al Mismari shared his vision of the situation in Libya, pointed out the role of the Libyan National Army in countering terrorism. Russian experts offered their assessment of the ongoing processes and the prospects for developments. The parties discussed the roles of the states in the region, the role of the tribes, and the future of Skhirat Agreement expiring in December 2017.

Grigory Lukyanov, senior lecturer at HSE, Andrey Chuprygin, senior lecturer at HSE, and Ruslan Mamedov, RIAC Program Assistant, also took part in the meeting.
