On December 20, 2024, within the framework of the XIX Conference of Arabists “Readings by I. M. Smilyanskaya” at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IOS RAS), the 4th meeting of the section “The Long 20th Century in the History of Arab Countries” was held. Russian orientalists took part in the work of the section: Vasily Kuznetsov, Deputy Director for Science of the IOS RAS, RIAC Member; Boris Dolgov, Leading Researcher at the CAIS of the IOS RAS; Boris Dolgov, Leading Researcher at the CAIS of the IOS RAS; Elena Melkumian, Leading Researcher at the CAIS of the IOS RAS; Sergey Serebrov, Senior Researcher at the CAIS of the IOS RAS and others.

The section was attended by Ivan Bocharov, Program Coordinator at the RIAC. He made a report on perception by residents of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank of the policies of Arab states in the context of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The moderator of the discussion was Grigory Lukyanov, Researcher at the CAIS of the IOS RAS.
