On November 9–11, 2019, Abu Dhabi (UAE) hosted the sixth annual Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate ADSD 2019, one of the main regional platforms for discussing security issues, long-term trends in the development of the system of international relations and the world economy.

On November 9–11, 2019, Abu Dhabi (UAE) hosted the sixth annual Abu Dhabi Strategic Debate ADSD 2019, one of the main regional platforms for discussing security issues, long-term trends in the development of the system of international relations and the world economy.

The Debate is held under the auspices of the Emirates Policy Center with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE. It is attended by experts, diplomats, journalists, public figures, businessmen, and government officials from the Middle East, as well as from other regions of the world. The main topics for discussion this year were issues of the impact of technology on military power, changing parameters of national power, the ongoing shifts in world finances and global energy map, the likely impact of Artificial Intelligence on world politics. Much attention was paid to conflict situations in the Middle East region - the Arab-Israeli conflict, military operations in Syria, the current situation in Yemen, and the aggravation of relations between the USA and Iran. Russian side was represented by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Elena Suponina, RIAC Expert, Advisor to Director of Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISI).

RIAC representatives also held consultations with a number of think tanks located in the Middle East regarding institutional partnership opportunities.
