On April 30, 2020, Ksenia Kuzmina, RIAC Program Manager, took part in the webinar dealing with “Relevance of BRI: Post COVID-19” hosted by the Indian think tank Global Counter Terrorism Council.
The meeting gave rise to an open discussion of the possible negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on China’s Belt and Road Initiative. While some experts argued that the current crisis could undermine the Initiative, most experts believe its negative impact may be only short-term. Growing US – China rivalry, India’s policy in the region as well as Quad’s role in Indo-Pacific were also addressed.

Alok Bansal, Director of India Foundation, Dr. Swaran Singh, Chairman of the Centre for International Politics, Organisation and Disarmament of the School of International Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Dr. Prabir De, Head of ASEAN–India Center at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), Naser Sherazi, President of the Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies, as well as Lucio Blanco Pitlo III, Research Fellow at the Asia-Pacific Pathways to Progress Foundation.
