On May 19, 2026, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the UAE Embassy in Moscow held a roundtable titled “Russia–UAE Political Cooperation in the Context of Evolving Regional Dynamics”. The meeting was aimed at reviewing the current Russian-Emirati cooperation in the political sphere, as well as to discuss the impact of the situation in the Middle East on relations between the two countries. The welcome remarks were delivered by RIAC Director General Ivan Timofeev and the UAE Ambassador to Russia Mohammed Al-Jaber.
From the Russian side, presentations were made by Maksim Maksimov, Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia; Alexander Aksenenok, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, RIAC Vice-President; Nikolay Sukhov, Leading Researcher at the Center for the Middle East Studies, IMEMO RAS; and Ruslan Mamedov, Scientific Advisor of Evgeny Primakov Center for International Cooperation, Senior Research Fellow at the Center for the Arab and Islamic Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies, RAS.
The UAE side was presented by Director of the Emirates Policy Center Ebtesam Al Ketbi; Director General of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) Sultan Al Nuaimi; Deputy Director of the Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE Mayan Al Tantawy; Researcher in American and Middle Eastern Affairs at the ECSSR Mohammed Al Dhuhoor.
