On November 7, 2022 the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO RAS) and World Economy and International Relations Journal held a workshop titled "Economic Aspect of Eurasian Integration: Obstacles and Ways of Overcoming them". The event was the sixth in a series of joint workshops of RIAC and IMEMO RAS on relevant issues of international relations.

Leading experts in the field discussed the achievements of Eurasian economic integration in 2022, as well as bottlenecks and further prospects of partnership within the EAEU. Special attention was paid to overcoming the consequences of sanctions and improving the conditions for doing business in the Eurasian environment. In addition, experts addressed such sensitive issues as de-dollarization, parallel imports mechanisms, and transport and logistics projects.

Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of Programs, and Sergey Afontsev, Deputy Director for Research at the Primakov Institute of International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, RIAC Member, delivered welcoming remarks.

Elena Danilova, Deputy Director of the Department for Integration Development of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Alexander Daniltsev, Head of the Trade Policy Institute of the Higher School of Economics, Andrey Tochin, Head of the Institute for Development of the Integration Processes of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy, Elena Kuzmina, Head of the Section of Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies of the IMEMO RAS, Aza Migranyan, Senior Research Fellow of the Caucasus Sector of the Center for Post-Soviet Studies of the IMEMO RAS, and Alexander Korolev, Associate Professor of the Department of International Relations of the Faculty of World Economy and International Relations of Higher School of Economics took part in the discussion.

The workshop was moderated by Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of programs, and Andrey Ryabov, Editor-in-Chief, World Economy and International Relations Journal.
