On May 28, 2014 two prestigious internationally-focused non-governmental organizations met to discuss important and emerging geopolitical issues and agreed on a program of cooperation to promote security and peace among East and West. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Ross Perot, Jr., EWI Chairman of the Board, convened the joint meeting and discussion in RIAC’s offices in Moscow. Participants included RIAC members and other Russian thought leaders, and EWI board members and staff from the United States, China, India, Pakistan, Europe and the Middle East.

On May 28, 2014 two prestigious internationally-focused non-governmental organizations met to discuss important and emerging geopolitical issues and agreed on a program of cooperation to promote security and peace among East and West.

Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Ross Perot, Jr., EWI Chairman of the Board, convened the joint meeting and discussion in RIAC’s offices in Moscow.

Participants included RIAC members and other Russian thought leaders, and EWI board members and staff from the United States, China, India, Pakistan, Europe and the Middle East. The topics discussed included:

  • Russia-West relations in 2014 and beyond
  • Tensions and a Push for Peace and Development in the Middle East and North Africa
  • Cyberspace Cooperation

The two organizations agreed to cooperate across a broad front regarding the issues disucsssed, including by conducting joint research and facilitating wider discussions among government and private sector leaders, in order to promote the benefits of cooperation and to identify and advocate for innovative solutions to seemingly intractable problems.
