On July 2, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) held a presentation of two joint policy briefs titled “Strategic Interaction between Russia and China: Importance and Nature” and “Aligning the Eurasian Economic Union and the Belt and Road Initiative: Problems and Prospects”.

Igor Ivanov, RIAC President, Xie Fuzhan, CASS President, Andrey Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to China and RIAC Member, Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Russia, delivered welcoming remarks. Wang Lei, Director of CASS International Cooperation Bureau, acted as a moderator of the Opening Session.

The main ideas of the joint RIAC–CASS publications have been outlined by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Liu Fenghua, Head of the Russian Foreign Policy Research Department at the CASS Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies (IREECAS), Vladimir Petrovsky, Chief Research Fellow at the RAS Institute of Far Eastern Studies, and Chai Yu, Deputy Director of IREECAS CASS. Sun Zhuangzhi, IREECAS CASS Director, chaired the discussion.
