On December 2, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) hosted an online workshop on challenges and prospects of pre- and post-pandemic Russia’s humanitarian policy and smart power. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, addressed the workshop participants with a welcoming speech. The discussion was moderated by Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director of Programs.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues, including the lessons learned from Russia's humanitarian policy during the pandemic, ensuring performance improvement of current and training of new personnel for Rossotrudnichestvo, cooperation between business and government structures in the process of implementing Russia’s humanitarian policy abroad.

The meeting was attended by Yevgeny Primakov Jr., Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), Anna Velikaya (Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation), Oleg Shakirov (Center for Advanced Governance), Grigory Lukyanov (National Research University Higher School of Economics), Olga Kulikova (Delovaya Rossiya (Business Russia)), Anton Zykov (Doctors Without Borders (MSF)).
