On November 11, 2015, RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov was at international conference "Soft Power and Culture Diplomacy in the 21st Century" held by Russian University of Peoples' Friendship with participation of prominent experts and officials engaged in public diplomacy and development of international ties.

 

On November 11, 2015, RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov was at international conference "Soft Power and Culture Diplomacy in the 21st Century" held by Russian University of Peoples' Friendship with participation of prominent experts and officials engaged in public diplomacy and development of international ties. 

The speakers' list included members of the Russian Federation Council, Rossotrudnichestvo, Gorchakov Foundation, Balkan Center for International Cooperation, Russian University of Peoples' Friendship, MGIMO, St. Petersburg University, Higher School of Economics, Diplomatic Academy, RAS Institute for European Studies, Russian Institute for Strategic Studies, RAS Institute for the U.S. and Canadian Studies, Academy of Military Sciences, as well as guests from the United States, the Palestine and Montenegro. 

Dr. Makhmutov spoke on RIAC's endeavors in the realm of soft power with the focus on the Internet resources intended for foreign expert audiences.

The debaters handled various aspects of government-sponsored activities devoted to cultural and humanitarian contacts, inter-parliamentary interaction, promotion of the expert-level dialogue, the role of universities in improvement of the humanitarian angle in Russia's foreign policy, development of Russian-language training programs, and advancement of Russian education abroad.
